Red Beaded Namji Doll 1 - Small
Namji dolls are vibrant, distinctive fertility figures crafted by the people of northern Cameroon. These wooden sculptures pack a ton of personality into their compact frames!
Standing between 6-12 inches tall, these distinctive dolls feature characteristically elongated cylindrical bodies with minimalist facial features and prominent, stylized breasts that symbolize fertility and motherhood. Decked out with colorful beads, cowrie shells, metal rings, leather strips and sometimes even animal hair, each Namji doll has its own distinct personality as some stand tall and proud with arms stretched outward, while others have a more compact, geometric style.
Their unique charm has made them highly sought-after by collectors of African art worldwide who appreciate both their cultural significance and their bold, decorative aesthetic.
