About Deona Lizette: 
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Deona Lizette has earned her BFA at Kennesaw State University and MFA at Pratt Institute. Deona’s use of wood stems from her childhood woodworking in her grandfather’s shop. Materiality is a central subject of Deona’s practice, with roots in her experience in woodworking, painting, and drawing. By combining painting and printing to create illusory, multidimensional spaces and geometric, abstract figures, Deona both embraces and rejects traditional notions of trompe l’oeil. In its geometric form or absence, the human body often plays a crucial role in Deona’s work. Bold shapes and patterns reference architecture and interior design, art forms that revolve around an anticipation of human presence and bodily interaction. Excited to have her works now on the walls here at MAISON 10.
